Green Val di Sole

Shared good practices

“If you want a relationship to last, one hand must go and the other come”. It is popular wisdom that in a few words expresses the challenges and objectives of today’s Val di Sole. Tourism and the enjoyment of the territory are seen as a continuous exchange between visitors and residents, tourists and operators, human beings and nature. A handshake or a hug, a gesture of solidarity and reciprocity that generates bonds of awareness.

Val di Sole studies and informs itself, seeks good practices in the heart of its tradition and innovative examples in the world to replicate and adapt to its own context. A community that reasons, asks, questions itself in a desire for continuous growth: not for profit this time, but for real and shared well-being.

Thanks to projects that unite the most diverse points of view in a solid network of possibilities, this territory is indeed at the forefront of eco-compatibility. After all, a little more healthy eco-centrism brings benefits near and far, today and tomorrow!

DoMani/DoiMan (Tomorrow/Two Hands)

What to do with this world? In order to build tomorrow we need to work on alliances. Through the symbol of two hands clasping, Val di Sole is proposing a pact of concrete commitment between people - operators and tourists, residents and visitors, explorers and entrepreneurs - and the territory. The path begins with a careful study of problems and possibilities, then moves on to a dialogue with all parties involved and, after drawning up a shared manifesto of intent, finally supports the initiative of individuals and communities.

There is room for everyone: from ecological sale receipts to training schools, from digital games to festivals, from those who want to be spokespersons of a zero-impact hospitality to those who propose excursions to stimulate knowledge of the mountains, and from those who ask for a tourist offer without waste or abuse, to those who wonder how to travel without damaging.

Each one is a solid interweaving in the social and environmental network that is designing and building tomorrow. We dream together, then everyone does their part and, in the responsibility of every choice, everything holds together.

Greenbus and  StelvioBus

In Val di Sole there is always more space for people: just leave your cars at home! Lago dei Caprioli and the Stelvio National Park welcome travellers in silence and quiet thanks to Greenbus and StelvioBus, two shuttle service projects designed specifically for their respective destinations. In July and August the streets empty and hearts fill with the sounds of the woods and the sights of lakes and streams.

Shhh… there’s a roe deer peeking out: if you slow down a little, you’ll experience some encounters here that you’ll remember forever. And sometimes just a glance, or a small gesture of balanced respect, is enough to find traces of infinity.

Sustainable Val di Sole

Pejo Plastic Free

In 2019, the Pejo3000 Ski area was the first in the world to go completely plastic-free. A first prize that made everyone win, underscoring once again how the well-being of environment and nature and the well-being of people are one and the same. 80% of the accommodation facilities in Val di Peio are participating in the project, along with tour operators and visitors who have chosen to become active protagonists of a more committed and conscious way of experiencing the mountains.

It was the beginning of a long journey towards many other objectives defined according to the action points of the 2030 Agenda and the criteria established by the European Union for sustainable and responsible development of regional areas. Every goal is achieved together and aims far, so that visitors share new ideas and, at the same time, take home the good habits learned in Val di Sole. The road continues on, opening up like a fan into a thousand paths to follow in order to arrive ever further.
